Master Melissa Hinkelbein
6th Degree Black Belt
Owner & Master Instructor
Bachelor of Arts, Psychology
Master Melissa Hinkelbein’s fascination with the arts began at a very young age. When she was 9 years old she finally had the opportunity to enroll in a formal program. In November 2019, after 25+ years training under Grandmaster Art Hinkelbein, she earned her 6th Degree Black Belt and the continued honor of being a master of martial arts. She continues her martial arts journey daily as both a student and teacher. She loves sharing her passion with students and helping them achieve success on the mat and in life. For Master Melissa, the greatest honor is having the opportunity to pass down her knowledge with the next generation of martial artists and help them find themselves and better themselves through the arts.
In 2005, Master Melissa Hinkelbein graduated from Georgian Court University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Because our goal in teaching is to develop a person’s whole being, she often has the opportunity to merge the knowledge attained through her degree with her skill as a martial artist.
“The way they speak, interact and teach the children is AMAZING.”
“When we were told about AHMA, it sounded like somewhere my daughter would go to learn to protect herself – but to say that, would be an understatement! She has learned so much more…her confidence has grown, not only in class but in her everyday life and other activities. Her coordination, mental and physical attitude have all shown improvement, in only a few short months. Master Art and Melissa take the time to get to know each student and make sure that they are consistently improving – the way they speak, interact and teach the children is AMAZING. The skills and attitude she is learning will be used in every part of her life. I highly recommend AHMA for anyone – the benefits are endless!!” – Kim & Ryan Horahan
